Customized Employment Introduction

Customized employment connects a job seeker with disabilities and unique abilities and interests with an employer’s unmet needs, to result in a customized job.

Customized employment is a process and an outcome. The customized employment process individualizes the employment relationship between a job seeker and an employer in a way that meets the needs and interests of both.  The process leads to a customized outcome or a position for the job seeker. The job seeker does not compete for a specific job opening but rather offers his/her skills and contributions to meet identified and unmet work needs of the employer.

This customized employment module describes the customized employment process as developed by Marc Gold & Associates and Michael Callahan.
